Okay I seen a lot of hate going around in the Young Justice tag, fandom, etc because of one character, Rocket. I was fricking excited that Rocket became a member of the team. I had been waiting for her to join since I saw the episode in Portuguese (I know, I was weak and don’t judge me.) Everyone is hating on her for so many reasons that I can’t even…
I saw one reason someone didn’t like her because of her accent. My reaction:
Her voice, really? I thought her voice great. Her voice was full of “sassiness” yet had “I will kick your ass in 2.5 seconds”.
Another reason was “She represents the stereotypical African American woman.”
My reaction:
Now what part was sterotypical about Rocket? Anyone care to answer because I didn’t see her being ghetto or being a diva.
I’m not amused. See below.
Then there is a new shipping to Young Justice, Aqualad + Rocket! Personally, I like Rocket and Aqualad to be together . I love how she made a comment about joining the team wasn’t all bad and she looked at Aqualad. That’s when some people lost their cool and started hating her. I mean guys it not the end of the damn world because she showed signs of being attracted to him and we still have to wait for Season 2 to see if there are any new relationships in YJ. Then the issue of both of them being black characters so they have to be together in the show. In fact I’m going to ship them because to me they look cute together and I have wonderful dreams of Rocket teaching Kaldur things about the surface world.
Now here’s another and final(?) thing that some people are questioning and whatever…Rocket joined the team to soon or she late on joining the team. I mean people there might be a reason that Rocket joined the team late. I mean people her mentor Icon was joining the Justice League the same day. Look at the team and who their mentors are they’re all members of the League. Others saying that we need to learn more about her powers and her back story.
Dude, we saw her in action with no speaking roles in a few prevoius episodes and in the recent episode or look up her bio/ history/ powers in DC Wiki or whatever. Her back story? We have Season 2 to explain what her life was and is.
Now that I have finished my rant a word of advice. “Stop drinking haterade.”
